Everything Starts with the CUSTOMER

The same way the heart beat gives life to a human body so is a customer to a business and, the absence of the heart beat in human implies a lifeless body, the absence of customers implies a worthless business too. Thus, customers are the heartbeat of any business and customer service is key to sustaining that beat.

According to Investopedia, “A customer is an individual or business that purchases the goods or services produced by a business.” It went further to add, “The customer is the end goal of businesses, since it is the customer who pays for supply and creates demand.”

In other words, without a customer there will be no reason for purchase of goods or services neither would there be need for the existence of the business in the first place.

There is this popular customer service saying which says, “The customer is the boss.” Yes! And for us at iConcierge, “The customer is not only the boss” but also “The king maker.” The customer does not only make our job possible and sustainable, but further assists in positioning our business in the public fore.

Our customers are the most important part of our business and they are at the Centre of our service philosophy. Like June Martin succinctly puts it, “Everything starts with the customer.” And at iConcierge too, everything starts with the customer who is the boss and king maker that decides our future.

Mahatma Gandhi’s interpretation further reinforces who a customer is,

”A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.”

While customers give life to business, good customer service sustain the life that is given. But what is customer service? Customer service could be said to mean the process of providing services to customers before, during and after purchasing, and using goods and services.

For us, it isn’t enough to simply perform the duties of our job such as answering calls, taking down requests and execution. We strive towards service excellence by ensuring the right approach is employed and the customer’s expectations are exceeded.

As we commemorate this year’s Customer Service Week, we say Thank You for Being Our Heart Beat and for continually giving us the opportunity to serve you and your business. We celebrate you this week and always.
